Scalpers are already ruining the PS5 Pro launch

·

·

Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro and the special 30th Anniversary Edition of the PS5 Pro have been available since Thursday, and black market traders have already struck to spoil the deal for everyone else.

In less than a few hours, deals on the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition have been listed on eBay for thousands over retail price, ranging from a (modest) 173% markup to an incredible 952% markup, depending on the listing.

It’s worth noting that this was before pre-orders began in the US, as these are based on UK pre-orders that opened earlier today. There’s a good chance things will only get worse when the US market starts selling.

The PS5 Pro will officially launch on November 7, 2024. If you can buy the standard PS5 Pro console from a brick-and-mortar store, it will cost $699/£699.99/€799.99 before tax. If you want to buy a limited edition 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro, it will cost well over $900, based on the UK price of £959.00.
