After returning from the war, Tu’ufuli left the military and lived as a civilian with his wife and two young daughters. But after his wife died of cancer in 2018, the veteran had to care for his children as a single father.

The house he lived in before being surprised with a new home by the Home Depot Foundation and Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors was not wheelchair accessible, making it difficult for Tu’ufuli to live comfortably.
