Sabrina Carpenter slams critics who claim she doesn’t sing live

Sabrina Carpenter ends the nonsense.

The 25-year-old hit back at social media critics who accused her of lip-syncing on her “Short n’ Sweet Tour.”

After a user on TikTok asked if she “ever” sings live at her concerts, someone posted a clip from one of Carpenter’s recent performances and claimed that it proved she lip-synced. In the video, released on Tuesday, the artist can be seen dancing on stage to her hit single “Please Please Please.”

“I hate to say it,” the person wrote, “30% lip singing (sic), 30% backing track, 40% vocals.”

But Carpenter didn’t take the speculation lightly, commenting under the footage and even offering the user to contact the crew of her sold-out tour for confirmation.

“I sing live 100% of the time at every show,” the Disney alum explained. “Would you like to speak to my sound engineers?”

The original poster responded to Carpenter’s comments, saying they would like to meet with the engineers. What would the person like to say to the crew if they could?

“I would,” they wrote back to the superstar, “and tell them to lower the backtrack vocal as it’s (sic) way too high.”

Although recent online comments may not have been so kind, Carpenter is now being recognized in a big way for her hard work.

The “Espresso” singer made this year’s TIME100 Next list, which honors rising stars across industries, and is featured on one of her three covers, according to People on Tuesday.

“This is why she has secured her deserved place as one of today’s leading pop artists. She proves that big things come in small packages,” the 43-year-old wrote, adding that the two had similar starts at Disney, so she understands “what it takes to maintain clarity while meeting the demands of this business fulfill.”
