“At WalMart customer service, I gave the clerk my receipt and the returned box of cartridges,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Apparently there was a problem returning the cartridges after 30 days. However, it was a $94.00 purchase and due to HP’s business policy, they refused to exchange them,” he added.

The consumer reported that when he installed the new ink cartridges into the printer, he received an error message stating that “there was something wrong” with the cartridges.

An employee told the customer that the retailer had a 30-day return policy for ink cartridges, but social media users said Walmart was wrong to deny him the purchase.

“Does this mean that a customer can no longer buy cartridges in bulk?” he asked.

“So I just left 94.00. The manager confirmed this and then sent me away.”

Several other social media users joined the frustrated consumer.

“30 days is a ridiculous rule!!”, raged one consumer.

“I always get at least six months of ink, sometimes longer. That’s not realistic for printer ink when you’re running a business. I guess Walmart doesn’t care about business customers,” they added.

“Returns are available for almost all items Walmart sells,” the Walmart website states.

The retailer said a customer’s purchase history on Walmart.com will show the latest date for a return or exchange.

However, they recommend that you keep all manufacturer packaging and receipts for at least 90 days after purchase.

The retailer also specifically points out that a damaged item can be returned to any Walmart store for a refund or exchange.

Walmart promises that debit and credit card refunds are available within up to 10 business days.
