OSCEOLA, Ind. (WNDU) – The 40th annual Osceola Music Festival began a few hours ago at Fern Hunsberger Park.
The three-day festival includes bluegrass, rock and country music.
This music festival for the whole family offers a little bit of everything and best of all, admission is free.
Over the years, the music festival has evolved into what it is today, and leaders say if there was a festival in Mayberry, it would be very similar to this one.
From today through Sunday, Fern Hunsberger Park will be transformed into a family-friendly festival featuring dozens of bluegrass, rock and country artists.
Hundreds of vendors are lined up on the grounds, as well as a variety of food trucks, arts and crafts, and children’s activities.
Sunday features carnival-style eating contests and a fan favorite: a frog jumping competition.
“This was started by Bus Kelver, who started it many years ago and was still doing it last year at the age of 96, and it’s a great event. Some people have never touched a frog in their life, and we have two divisions. The kids’ division and the adult division. So if you’ve never held a frog or been in a frog jumping competition, come on, it’s a blast,” said Tom Krueger and Randy Leliaert, co-chairs of the Osceola Music Festival. “A hometown event. I mean, this is nothing special. This is not a 4H fair. This is a great hometown event, and we have a lot of rock and roll.”
The competition starts on Sunday at 2pm and admission to the festival is free.
