Resurgence Brewing Company opens new location in south Fort Myers

A popular brewery from Buffalo, New York, is coming to South Fort Myers.

Resurgence Brewing Company is located at 6150 Exchange Lane, near the intersection of Michael G. Rippe and Six Mile Cypress Parkways, south of the Lee Health Sports Complex.

Fort Myers-based Seagate Development Group recently broke ground on the 22,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant.

“We love Fort Myers and wanted to bring the Resurgence Brewing Company experience to Southwest Florida,” said Jeff Ware, founder and owner of Resurgence, in a press release. “We look forward to joining the thriving craft beer community in Fort Myers.”

Jeff and his wife Erin opened Resurgence Brewing Company (RBC) in Buffalo in 2014 after realizing the city didn’t have any beer gardens like the ones they frequented in New York City.

According to its website, Resurgence brews nearly 5,000 gallons of high-quality, unique and experimental beer each week. Think Sponge Candy Stout (made from excess trimmings of Watson’s Chocolate’s popular sponge candy), Loganberry Wit and Cosmic Truth – a mosaic-hopped session ale.

In terms of food, RBC’s offerings include pretzels, nachos, handhelds (like chicken, short ribs and Chicago street burgers), salads, wings, mac & cheese and rice bowls.

But wait, there’s more. Not only will there be a brewery, a bar and a restaurant, but a climbing facility – the Central Rock Gym – will also be built right next door.

“This will be a fitness-focused facility,” said Garrett Schwier, general manager of the Worcester, Massachusetts-based gym, in a press release. “Climbing is a social sport. We look forward to growing the climbing community in Fort Myers.”

There will be 45-foot walls for lead and top rope climbing, 5,000 square feet of bouldering space and 20,000 square feet of total climbing terrain. Since opening 15 years ago, Central Rock Gym has 28 locations in six states. The south Fort Myers location will be the largest in the Sunshine State. In addition to climbing, Central Rock offers youth programs, member events, meetups, competitions and fundraisers.

Sweet additions: The unique cafe in Fort Myers offers a lot of deliciousness and we couldn’t be more pleased

“We are honored to partner with Resurgence Brewing Company and Central Rock Gym on this exciting new project in Fort Myers,” said Matt Price, CEO of Seagate Development Group, in a press release. “This project embodies our commitment to creating dynamic and engaging spaces that enrich the community.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in October and the opening is expected in late summer 2025.
