Restaurant in Park City donates part of its proceeds to charity

AMERICAN FORK, Utah – For eight years, Vessel Kitchen has been serving healthy and hearty meals to Utahns, starting at its first location in Park City.

“Park City got it on day one and said, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible,'” said Brian Reeder, co-founder of Vessel Kitchen. “We’ve seen people here literally twice a day, six days a week for years, and this is truly our family.”

In honor of the opening of their 8th location in American Fork on September 7th, they are giving back to the community where it all began with “8 Days of Giving.”

“I wanted to make sure that we were doing something by working with organizations in our own community to make sure that they felt that love too and that we could do something to express our gratitude to the community that we are part of,” Reeder said.

For the next eight Saturdays, Vessel Kitchen in Park City will donate 25% of its sales to various local organizations in the area, kicking off this Saturday with Nuzzles and Co., a nonprofit that rescues endangered and homeless animals and provides essential services in the greater Park City area.

“Many animal shelters are unfortunately full due to COVID, so animal protection and rescue services are urgently needed,” said Leslie Barcus, CEO of Nuzzles and Co.

Vessel Kitchen in Park City also partners with Summit Community Gardens and Eats, an organization whose mission is to come together, learn and grow in gardens and schools.

“I believe that everyone has a right to fresh, healthy food. And it’s very important to me to have a place like Summit Community Gardens where we grow food for the people in our community who are food insecure,” says Helen Nadel, executive director of EATS/Summit Community Gardens.

Vessel Kitchen also helps remember the life of Sam Jackenthal – the 16-year-old skier who died in a skiing accident in Australia in 2015. His family founded the nonprofit organization Live Like Sam to honor the boy who brightened their lives.

“It’s really difficult for us as a society to put the discussion of mental and emotional fitness on the same level as physical fitness,” said Sam’s father, Ron Jackenthal. “Our goal is to continue to spread the message and provide resources that are easily accessible to the community.”

Vessel Kitchen recognizes that it wouldn’t be a local favorite without the community, so the company wants to give back to those who make our neighborhoods vibrant.

“The communities that have gathered around us have been truly overwhelming and it is flattering that so many people choose to dine with us every day,” Reeder said.

Nuzzles and Co.’s Day of Giving is Saturday, August 31st, Summit Community Gardens and Eats’ Day is September 28th, and Live Like Sam’s Day is October 5th – all at Vessel Kitchen in Park City.
