Dave Grohl reportedly hired a divorce lawyer before announcing that he had fathered an illegitimate child.
People reported on Wednesday that the Foo Fighters frontman has reportedly hired a divorce lawyer after 21 years of marriage to Jordyn Blum.
The exact date he hired legal counsel, as well as the reason for doing so, are unknown. His representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Grohl, 55, surprised his fans on Tuesday when the musician announced that he had an extramarital affair and as a result, he had a daughter.
“I recently became the father of a daughter born outside of my marriage,” Grohl wrote in a statement on Sept. 10. “I plan to be a loving and supportive father to her.”
Grohl went on to say that he loves his wife and their children and is doing everything possible to “regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
“We are grateful for your consideration for all the children affected as we move forward together,” he added.
The former Nirvana drummer did not reveal the identity of the woman with whom he has his newborn daughter.
Grohl already has three daughters with Blum: Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.
His eldest daughter deactivated her Instagram account after her father posted the statement, but it is unclear if her account was deleted because of the baby drama or for other reasons.
Blum, 48, met Grohl in 2001 at a bar in West Hollywood, California, and they married nearly two years later, on August 2, 2003.
“When I met my wife, we went on a few dates and I decided I wasn’t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling her,” Grohl told Elle in 2007. Three months later, Grohl had “an epiphany” and called her.
“She picked up the phone and said, ‘Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again,'” he recalls.
The former model and Grohl appeared happy during their last public appearance – two months before they gave birth to their fourth daughter with the mystery woman.
Blum and Grohl were photographed laughing and chatting while attending Wimbledon in London on July 2.
