Red Dead Redemption PC port revealed on PlayStation Store

The PlayStation Store is pretty much the last place you’d expect to find news about PC ports, but that’s where you’ll now find an official description of the long-awaited PC port of Red Dead Redemption.

“Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation – now for the first time ever on PC,” the game’s infobox states unequivocally. That’s probably not the reveal Rockstar had planned, and it’s probably better to hold off on the celebrations until the studio confirms things, but the PSN Store doesn’t usually lie when it comes to such things.

A little further down, it goes into some of the changes made for the PC version: “Red Dead Redemption offers the complete single-player experience of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, all upgrades from the 2023 console version, and PC-specific improvements including support for higher resolutions and frame rates, multiple displays and other accessories, and spatial surround sound.”

First released in 2011, the GOTY edition brought a brand new difficulty level to the game and included the Undead Nightmare DLC for zombie survival action, The Liars and Cheats multiplayer pack with a few different game modes, The Outlaws of the End co-op pack, all of the cosmetic items originally available as pre-order bonuses, The Solomon’s Folly challenges, and the Myths and Mavericks bonus pack.

“PC-specific improvements, including support for higher resolutions and frame rates” should be a good sign that players can expect frame rates above 30 and enough options to comfortably run the game on their specific hardware configuration.

This update to the PlayStation Store description would confirm recently discovered clues in the Rockstar PC launcher regarding the release of Red Dead Redemption on the platform.

Rockstar released Red Dead Redemption on PS4 and Nintendo Switch last year, and that version of the game will be the basis for the PC port. You can check out our comparison of RDR on PS4, Switch, and Xbox to get a sense of what to expect.
