The start of the NFL season is just hours away. The Ravens are beginning to warm up on the field for Thursday night’s big rematch against the Super Bowl champion Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Baltimore lost 17-10 to Patrick Mahomes and Co. in the AFC title game last year. Although that was last year, the onus now falls on the Ravens, and first-year defensive coordinator Zach Orr will be immediately under scrutiny.

In a game of this magnitude, there are several matchups that could make the difference, and we’re looking at five matchups to keep an eye on when Baltimore is on the defensive.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce vs Ravens S Kyle Hamilton

Two elite talents will face off, and Hamilton has something to prove after Kelce caught all 11 passes thrown to him for 116 yards and a touchdown, breaking Jerry Rice’s postseason receptions record. Kelce posted a PFF receiving grade of 87.8 and led this team to its fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years.

Ravens pass rusher Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo vs. Kingsley Suamataia

The Chiefs’ rookie left tackle will face speed and athleticism in a duel with Odafe, Ojabo and Kyle Van Noy.

Rice was a star as a rookie, while Worthy is one of the fastest men in the NFL after setting an impressive combine record. How these two receivers fare against two strong cornerbacks could determine Thursday night’s contest.

Mahomes has a passer rating of 119.1 and has thrown for 1,479 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions in four career games against the Ravens. How the first-year defensive coordinator adjusts to Mahomes will speak volumes tonight and going forward.
