Raiders Trade News: What could the Raiders get for Davante Adams?

Throughout the offseason, we heard rumors about trading star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. However, Adams dismissed those conversations every time he was asked about them, repeatedly stating that he wanted to stay and win with the Raiders. A few months later the time has finally come.

The three-time first-team All-Pro has reportedly requested a trade and the Raiders have begun shopping him.

Of course the question arises; “What could Las Vegas get in return for Adams?” So let’s take a look at some trades in recent years for wide receivers of similar caliber and what the teams reportedly interested in Adams have to offer.

Current trades

  • Davante Adams trades from the Packers to the Raiders for 2022 1st and 2nd round picks

Coincidentally, the deal that brought the receiver to Las Vegas could serve as the basis. Granted, he’s older now and a midseason move won’t provide the same return, but he’s under contract through 2026 and playing at a high level to recoup some value.

  • Tyreek Hill is traded from the Chiefs to the Dolphins for 2022 1st, 2nd and 4th round picks and 2023 4th and 6th round picks

This trade came about a week after the Raiders acquired Adams. So don’t expect Las Vegas to get anywhere near that kind of return for the 31-year-old.

  • AJ Brown trades from the Titans to the Eagles for 2022 1st and 3rd round picks

Brown was entering the final year of his rookie contract and wanted to get paid, something then-Tennessee general manager Jon Robinson was unwilling to do. Given that Brown was much younger than Adams and that trade occurred in the offseason, the additional pick is unlikely, but it feels like we’re getting closer to realistic compensation.

  • Calvin Ridley is traded from the Falcons to the Jaguars for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick

Ridley was suspended at the time, reducing his trade value. He also had a contract year for the one season he was allowed to play in Jacksonville, so this is a unique circumstance.

  • DJ Moore (and multiple draft picks) to the Bears from the Panthers for the 2023 No. 1 overall pick

Another unique transaction in which Carolina wanted to obtain the first pick of the draft for a quarterback, using Moore as a bargaining chip. Obviously, this is a very different situation than the one the Raiders find themselves in.

  • Keenan Allen traded from the Chargers to the Bears for a 2024 4th round pick

This deal could be problematic for those hoping the Raiders could get a first or second round pick for Adams. Allen, 32, is a similar age and has had several productive years in his career. But to provide some optimism, the former Charger has an injury history, is in a contract year, and Los Angeles needed to clear cap space while instituting a new regime.

  • Stefon Diggs (and two Tag 3 picks) from Bills to Texans for 2025 second-round pick

Buffalo picked up a 2024 sixth-rounder and a 2025 fifth-rounder to replace Diggs. The interesting thing about this trade is that the Bills didn’t receive an immediate return and opted to get a pick in the following year’s draft. That skews the compensation a bit, but from player to player, Diggs is probably the closest to Adams’ caliber and serves as a baseline for what the Raiders can accomplish.

Interested teams

Below are teams that are either reportedly interested in trading for Adams or are reportedly interested in being traded with Adams, as well as the assets they have available to include in a deal.

New York Jets

2025 draft picks (by round): 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd (from DET), 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th (from KC), 7th

Players: EDGE Haason Reddick, WR Garrett Wilson

New York is a popular destination for Adams because of his relationship with Aaron Rodgers, who the organization has mentored for the past two years. The Jets, who have that additional third-rounder, could also play a big role and help outbid another club. Plus, Las Vegas would undoubtedly like to replace Adams with a young, talented receiver like Wilson.

It’s hard to imagine New York being willing to trade away someone like this, but Wilson and Rodgers have clashed many times this season, and Mike Williams is also out on offense to form a strong veteran duo with Adams.

Meanwhile, Reddick could help improve Las Vegas’ pass rush. But for a team that will likely be rebuilding in the future, a draft pick seems like a better acquisition than a 30-year-old defensive end wanting a contract extension.

Pittsburgh Steelers

2025 Draft Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th (from LAR), 5th, 7th (from NO), 7th (from DEN), 7th (from WSH)

Players: OLB Nick Herbig, RB Najee Harris

Pittsburgh is 3-1 and currently leads the competitive AFC North, so adding a wide receiver to complement George Pickens would be a smart move.

Harris could be an interesting bargaining chip since he is young and the Raiders’ running game needs some help. However, the 26-year-old has one year on his contract, which reduces his value.

Herbig could be a good edge rusher for Las Vegas and is only in the second year of his rookie contract. Granted, he may be a player the Steelers want to keep, but the team has TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith ahead of Herbig on the depth chart, meaning the latter could be expendable if he leads to an improvement in the offense.

Baltimore Ravens

2025 Draft Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th (competition), 5th, 5th (competition), 6th, 6th (competition), 6th (competition), 7th

Players: WR Rashod Bateman, EDGE David Ojabo

To be honest, Adams’ trip to Baltimore is based more on speculation than a report. The Ravens have spent several years improving their wide receiver corps, so this pairing would make sense if the organization can execute on the salary cap situation since they only have about $4.3 million available per Over The Cap.

Baltimore also has plenty of mid-round picks it could part with. Additionally, Bateman probably wouldn’t have a big role on the team if Adams were added, and the Raiders should be interested in signing a 24-year-old receiver. Bateman is also under contract until 2026, making him more valuable to the Silver and Black.

New Orleans Saints

2025 Draft Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th (Competition)

Players: WR AT Perry, CB Paulson Adebo

A reunion with Derek Carr in “The Big Easy” is on the cards for the former Fresno State Bulldog. Admittedly, this would require some salary cap magic, as the Saints have about $2.8 million in cap space. But that’s exactly what general manager Mickey Loomis has become famous for over the years.

However, the Saints don’t have many picks to offer, especially compared to the other teams listed above. Using Adebo could help as he has been a good cornerback in recent seasons, but he also has a contract year.

Perry could add some potential to the Raiders’ receiving corps after finishing his rookie season strong last year, although he has yet to play in 2024.
