Peter Morristhe owner of Little Dragon Pizza Van in Wales, died of cancer in May. During his funeral, the late business owner’s widow read a letter from 42-year-old William, written on Kensington Palace stationery.
“I wanted to write to express how terrible it is for Catherine and me to hear the very sad news about your husband Pete and to express our deepest condolences,” William said, according to the British The sun. “We can only begin to imagine what a huge hole he will leave in your lives and my sincere condolences go out to you and your family. Catherine and I have really enjoyed getting to know Pete.”
Morris converted his VW bus into a food truck that makes and sells pizza. During their trip to Wales in April 2023, the Prince and Princess of Wales bought 22 pizzas from the food truck owner and distributed them to the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team.

“We know that Pete was an extremely dedicated and highly valued member of the community, which is reflected in the response to his death,” Williams’ letter continued. “I hope you can take comfort in knowing the impact he had on so many people.”
He concluded: “I realise that this letter alone cannot be of much consolation in such circumstances, but I wanted you to know how much we are thinking of you and your family during these difficult times.”
While the letter was being typed, according to a photo shared by The sunWilliam wrote the greetings by hand, signed his name and expressed his “deepest condolences”.
Little Dragon Pizza announced Morris’ death in an Instagram post on May 25.
“We were fortunate to call him our boss and friend. His infectious passion will be remembered forever,” the caption said. “We are determined to continue the hard work he put his time into and make him proud.”

The Sun reported that Morris had overcome esophageal cancer, but the disease had spread to his adrenal gland and liver.
After meeting William and Kate, also 42, last year, Morris spoke to People about his interactions with members of the royal family.
“The princess asked if we would make our own dough and said they love making pizza with their children,” he recalled, referring to Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. “Making pizza for the future king and queen is surreal.”
