Prince William was pictured for the first time since Princess Kate returned to work as the royal posed with Aston Villa Royale.

Tonight Aston Villa plays its first home game in Europe’s top flight since 1983.


Villa, who are also the Prince of Wales’ favorite team, host Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

They beat the German team for the last time and won the European Cup in 1982.

Big Villa fan Prince William is in attendance this evening to meet members of this victorious squad.

Aston Villa’s social media team posted a picture of the King with the victorious 1982 team.

They captioned the post: “Royalty meets Aston Villa royalty.”

One fan replied: “It’s another beautiful evening for Villa. Let’s go and be great.”

As a schoolboy, William decided to support Aston Villa, a club then fighting for a place in the European Cup.

Decades later, William will finally see Villa play in Europe’s elite club competition when his team takes on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Prince of Wales will be in attendance at Villa Park as Unai Emery’s side look for two wins from two games on their return to the biggest stage following a 3-0 win over Young Boys.

William, who was at the London Air Ambulance Charity alongside former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham earlier this week, presented OBEs to players including Ally McCoist and Karen Carney at Windsor Castle on Wednesday before heading to the Midlands for the Villa v Villa clash traveled Bavaria.
