Prince Harry should apologize for cocaine use in Colombia

It’s time for the prince to apologize.

A friend of Prince William says Prince Harry must apologize for his cocaine use in his youth during his and his wife Meghan Markle’s upcoming trip to Colombia, where drug-related crime is rampant throughout the country.

“Harry admitted in his book to taking coke,” the unnamed friend told The Daily Beast on Sunday.

“His trip to Colombia should include an admission that the country has been destroyed by narco-terrorists who serve wealthy drug users in the West, and he should stand up and apologize for his own involvement in this disgusting trade,” they continued. “That would be a helpful intervention.”

In his 2023 memoir, Spare, Harry, 39, revealed that he tried cocaine at age 17 “to feel different.”

“Of course I had been taking cocaine at the time,” he wrote in the book. “I was offered a line at someone’s house during a hunting weekend, and I’ve been taking more since then.”

“It wasn’t much fun and it didn’t make me particularly happy, as it seemed to be for others, but it made me feel different and that was my main goal. To feel different. To be different,” he said.

In his interview with Anderson Cooper on “60 Minutes” last year, Harry said he had turned to alcohol and drugs – such as cocaine, marijuana and psychedelics – in response to the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana.

Harry and Meghan, 43, will embark on their next trip abroad to Colombia on Thursday.

Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez announced the upcoming visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in a statement earlier this month.

“In these vibrant locations, they will have the extraordinary opportunity to engage with leaders, young people and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress,” Márquez, 42, said of the couple. “In addition to these meaningful encounters, the Duke and Duchess will experience Colombia’s rich heritage.”

Harry and Meghan are travelling to Colombia to coincide with the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence against Children, which will take place in November.

The Sussexes recently launched a new initiative called The Parents Network to help parents whose children have been victims of social media bullying.

When asked about the reason for Harry and Meghan’s visit to Colombia, William’s friend told The Daily Beast: “I can’t imagine that online trolling is the greatest threat to children being exploited, enslaved and murdered by drug gangs.”

The Post has contacted Harry’s representative for comment.

Harry’s drug use in the past has caused great controversy and even put him at risk of deportation.

He allegedly did not mention his drug history in the application forms he submitted before moving to the United States in 2020. The government warns immigrants that providing misleading or false information in government documents can be grounds for deportation.

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for Harry’s documents, arguing that they were in the public interest.

However, DHS lawyers previously stated that releasing the documents would constitute “an unjustified invasion of Prince Harry’s privacy.”

Former President Donald Trump said in March that he would consider deporting Harry if he were re-elected. Now it turns out that the former royal lied in his application for a US visa.

“We need to see if they know anything about the drugs, and if he lied, they need to take appropriate action,” Trump said in an interview with GB News presenter Nigel Farage.
