Prank in Colorado Mills food court triggers large police presence

A prank at the Colorado Mills mall on Saturday night sparked a major police response after passersby called 911 about loud noises they thought were gunshots, Lakewood police said.

Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Colorado Mills food court around 5:40 p.m. and evacuated the mall, Lakewood police said in a post on X.

Investigators later determined that three masked boys stood on chairs in the food court, began screaming and throwing milk jugs on the floor, causing the loud noises.

According to the authority, the police found two of the three boys and charged them with disturbing the peace.
