Popular meteorologist leaves CT news channel

CONNECTICUT – Ryan Breton, a meteorologist at Fox61 for nearly three years, announced last week that he has left the news station.

“I am grateful to my friends, colleagues and the weather team,” Breton wrote on X. “We did a great job. I am proud to have been a part of it!”

Before Fox61, Breton was a meteorologist at WCSH and WLBZ in Maine, where he worked for more than four years.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Penn State University, which is known for its atmospheric sciences program. Breton received the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society in 2018.

He has also received an Excellence in Innovation Award from the Edward R. Murrow Awards and was nominated for an Emmy Award as a regional meteorologist.

Rachel Frank, chief meteorologist for Fox61, told X that Breton will be missed.

“I would say this is bittersweet, but right now I’m just bitter,” she jokingly wrote. “Wishing my best friend the best in the next chapter of his life.”

What the future holds for the loyal fan of the Patriots and Nittany Lions is not yet known, at least not publicly.

“I’ll share more about my next move soon, but first I wanted to thank everyone in CT for watching!” Breton wrote.
