Police officer in Missouri witnesses a fatal shooting at a gas station and shoots back

According to police, an officer fired fatal shots outside a gas station in Missouri, killing a man.

According to St. Louis County police, the fatal shootings occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, outside a gas station in Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis.

Authorities said a Ferguson police officer heard gunshots as he left the store and saw a man shoot another man.

The officer then fired shots at the suspected shooter, who died at the scene along with the first shooting victim, police said. One of the two collapsed near the gas pumps, while the other collapsed as he ran into the street.

The motive for the first shooting is unclear, but police said the two men arrived at the gas station together in the same vehicle. Their identities have not yet been determined.

According to police, the 37-year-old police officer who fired the shots has nine years of professional experience in the police force. He was not injured.
