Plane makes emergency landing at W.Va. International Yeager Airport

UPDATED, 9:14 p.m., 8/20/24:

Officials at West Virginia International Airport Yeager said the runway had reopened after a plane had to make an emergency landing Tuesday evening.

Paige Withrow, an airport spokeswoman, said shortly after 6 p.m. a pilot had to make an emergency landing after a plane had a problem with the right landing gear.

Withrow said there were two people on board, but no one was injured.

Withrow said that even if the runway is reopened, passengers are still and always asked to check with their airline before arriving at the airport to make sure their flight is not delayed.

A small plane had to make an emergency landing in Charleston on Tuesday evening, the emergency call center said.

Dispatchers reported the incident shortly after 6 p.m. at West Virginia International Yeager Airport.

According to flight dispatchers, a landing gear collapsed, requiring the aircraft to brake unexpectedly.

A CRW spokesperson told Eyewitness News that there were two people on the plane, but no injuries were reported.

A social media post by CRW noted that the incident temporarily blocked a runway.

Travelers are advised to check with the airline for the status of their flights.
