Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson could end up back in the AFC West

The NFL rumor mill is buzzing with the trade deadline approaching on November 5th. This week the time had come two different ones Denver Broncos linked In different trading scenarios. There was another rumor on Friday, this time involving Russell Wilson.

Is it possible that Wilson never plays a down for the game? Pittsburgh Steelers? With Las Vegas Raiders After wide receiver Davante Adams reportedly requested a trade, the Steelers were one of the teams linked to the Pro Bowler.

The Raiders would reportedly seek a second-round draft pick and additional compensation in exchange for Adams, but the crowd around Pittsburgh is that maybe a third-rounder and Wilson could do it. USA TODAYis Andrew Vasquez presents the figurative proposal.

“Wilson, along with a conditional third-round pick, should be more than enough to sign the 31-year-old Adams. The Raiders also have their own quarterback issues that Wilson could alleviate,” Vasquez wrote.

Now make no mistake; This is not an inside report that says the Raiders are interested in Wilson. However, the Steelers appear content to play with Justin Fields – who beat the Broncos in Denver back in Week 2 – despite Wilson being named the starting quarterback before the start of the regular season.

Unfortunately, a calf injury derailed Pittsburgh’s plans for Wilson, and Mike Tomlin was hesitant to make a quarterback change while his team was 3-1 at the quarter-pole. The Raiders are now 2-2 and have struggled to establish offensive consistency with Gardner Minshew. Aiden O’Connell was thrown into the mix for a while, but Minshew has since reclaimed the starting spot.

Wilson is in his age-35 season and Broncos Country knows all too well that his best days are long behind him, but as Pittsburgh concluded, despite his limitations, he could still be a plausibly competitive starting quarterback in the NFL. He could also be highly motivated after leaving Seattle and Denver, and the limits of such intangible influences are difficult to measure.

However, there is no doubt that Wilson has been a major disappointment in Pittsburgh so far. Even ESPNis Dan Graziano I can’t help but notice the disappointment Wilson felt as he wrote about the NFL’s biggest disappointments over the past four weeks.

“It has to be Russell Wilson, right? He hasn’t even played for the Steelers yet, and the way Justin Fields is doing, he might as well not be! Pittsburgh was hailed as smart for signing Wilson to a minimum contract, and that’s true.” The risk was low. But it hasn’t brought any reward so far. Perhaps Reddick was more disappointing with the Jets because he also didn’t play for them and cost more. “Now we have to ask ourselves if his career is over,” Graziano wrote.

Don’t be surprised if Wilson is traded before the deadline. Will he end up in Pittsburgh? Possibly, but it is far from certain.

This is pure rumor mill fodder. This is a situation to keep an eye on as the Steelers have very limited wide receivers aside from George Pickens, which is why they have been linked to various trade rumors surrounding pass catchers in recent years.

If Wilson were to return to the AFC West, it would be one heck of an exciting story. For now, however, he’s still a Steeler and the Broncos are paying him over $30 million not Play quarterback for the Orange and Blue.

It’s almost certain that Adams will be dealt, and one day the Steelers will respond to a wide receiver trade rumor demanded by their fans. He could be a big help to Fields and Pickens despite being on the wrong side of 30.

Adams missed last week’s game and that’s it excluded the Raiders’ meeting with the Broncos on Sunday. Hamstrings are fickle things, as is the value of a disgruntled player’s health, which the Raiders are likely hoping to preserve.
