Pinellas County man wins $1 million playing scratch-off game

The Florida Lottery recently announced that Silver Gutierrez Figueredo of Clearwater won a $1 million prize from the $1,000,000 scratch-off game “A Year For Life Spectacular.”

The Pinellas County winner elected to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $640,000.00.

The Central Florida man purchased his winning ticket at Hercules Chevron at 1790 North Hercules Avenue in Clearwater. The retailer received a bonus commission of $2,000 for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

He accepted his prize at the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee.

The $50 scratch-off game, 1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR, offers two grand prizes worth $1 million each per year for life and 234 prizes worth $1 million. Additionally, this ticket is filled with cash prizes worth over $1.6 billion.

The overall winning probability of the game is 1 in 4.50.

Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s game portfolio, accounting for approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Additionally, since their inception, scratch games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes, created 2,175 millionaires and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
