Phillies fans remain hopeful after disappointing Game 1 loss to New York Mets: ‘You can never count us out’

Phillies fans poured out Citizens Bank Park disappointed and disappointed the Saturday night afterwards Lost to the New York Mets.

“This city is resilient, we will come back. This series is not over,” said Aiden Oraphilly.

“We were amazed. Zack Wheeler had a fantastic game, but he didn’t get any run support. “The bullpen came in and didn’t help him much either,” said Brandon Shields, a Phillies fan from Wilmington.

Shields and his wife Diamond used to consider themselves good luck charms. They said that Phils Until Saturday, they have never lost a playoff game they have played in.

It was a devastating loss after the Mets took the lead in the eighth inning, but the Shields said it wasn’t time to panic.

“You can never leave us out, we will win in the end. They just want to keep us busy and busy, that’s all,” Diamond Shields said.

Hopes were high in the afternoon as fans celebrated in front of the bench, hot on their heels ahead of Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

“Nobody understands Red October except Philly,” Sissy Whalen said.

“As soon as Red October takes place, the stadium changes. It’s all red and it’s a beautiful sight, baby,” said Joe Laguda, dressed head to toe in red.

The rally towels waved after Kyle Schwarber hit a leadoff home run in the first inning, but the energy changed when pitching ace Wheeler fell off the mound.

Now fans are hoping the Phils will bounce back and their bats will come to life.

“I feel like game one is nothing, it is what it is. I know we started our ace, but we just have to get the job done, that’s all,” Alron Oz said.

“I think Philly is great under pressure so we can still come back, so sometimes we need a little kick in the butt to get our energy in,” Jade Charokopos said.

Fans can start building energy early with another block party starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday

The team will also distribute additional rally towels at the gates. First pitch for Game 2 is scheduled for 4:08 p.m
