The Philadelphia Phillies secured a bye in the MLB playoffs with a win over the Chicago Cubs and a loss of the Milwaukee Brewers against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night.

The Phillies now have home field advantage in the National League Division Series and have secured at least second place in the playoffs.

The Phillies defeated the Cubs 9-6 at Citizens Bank Park, with Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos hitting a home run each. The Brewers lost to the Pirates 2-1 and will now begin the playoffs in the wild-card round.

If the playoffs started today, the Phillies would play the winner of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who the Phillies defeated in the playoffs last season, or the Brewers in the NLDS.

Game 1 of the NLDS at Citizens Bank Park will take place on Saturday, October 5th. The start time of the game is still unclear on Wednesday evening.

The The Phillies recently launched a lottery for playoff tickets for fans to give them a chance to get tickets for the postseason.

The Phillies secured the NL East for the first time in 13 years on Monday night after the win against Chicago.

This is a developing story. Refresh for updates.
