Perak police confirm suspect in Nur Farah Kartini murder case found in Selangor is police officer

IPOH, July 16 – The main suspect remanded to assist in the murder investigation of 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah is a Lance Corporal, Perak Police chief Commissioner Datuk Azizi Mat Aris confirmed today.

Azizi said the suspect was attached to Slim River police station.

“I can confirm that the officer in custody in this case is a police officer.

“The suspect has been in the police force for about five years,” he said at a press conference here.

Earlier news reports said only that the suspect was a 26-year-old civil servant, believed to be Nur Farah Kartini’s boyfriend, who was being remanded in custody for seven days to assist in the investigation into her alleged murder.

The investigation is based on Article 302 of the Criminal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty.

According to the Malaysian news agency Cosmo! OnlineThe suspect was arrested at the Gedangsa Police Station in Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor.

Nur Farah Kartini, originally from Miri, Sarawak, was reported missing on July 11 after she delivered a rental car to a customer in Taman Universiti, Tanjung Malim, Perak.

She was last seen wearing a Muslim business outfit in blue jeans, a headscarf and black trousers.

Yesterday, Cosmo! Online Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan reported, saying Nur Farah’s body was found at a palm oil plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor at around 6pm.
