Othello, starring Denzel Washington, Molly Osborne and Jake Gyllenhaal, will be released at the Barrymore Theatre in February 2025 | Broadway Buzz

The Broadway revival of Shakespeare’s Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal will be performed at the Barrymore Theater. Performances begin on February 24, 2025, with the official premiere scheduled for March 23. The strictly limited engagement ends on June 8.

The production, which also stars Molly Osborne as Desdemona, is directed by Kenny Leon, whose production of Our city Premieres this fall at the same theater. Othello was performed at the Barrymore in 1935; Washington played in the 2014 production of A raisin in the sunalso directed by Leon, in the theater.

The creative team includes Derek McLane (set design), Dede Ayite (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting), Justin Ellington (sound design) and Mia Neal (hair and wig design). Claire Warden serves as intimacy director.

In OthelloWashington plays the noble Moor of Venice and commanding warrior general alongside Gyllenhaal as the ambitious lieutenant and master manipulator Iago. Iago’s relentless pursuit of revenge against Othello and his wife Desdemona (Osborne) plunges them into a shocking web of deception and betrayal.
