NYT Connections today (Game No. 465) – the answers
The answers to today’s Connections game #465 are…
- YELLOW: MEETING POINT OUTSIDE A HOUSE Patio, porch, porch, yard
- GREEN: LOWDOWN COURT, DOPE, INFO, SCOOP
- BLUE: ROLL TYPES Dropout, Demo, Highlight, Sizzle
- PURPLE: CARTOON DOGS WITHOUT “Y” DROOP, GOOF, LAD, SNOOP
- My rating: Simply
- My result: 1 error
Something minus a letter is a popular connection type for purple, so I always try to find it. Solving purple isn’t always necessary, but these types are generally easier to answer than some others because you don’t need a lot of expertise – just the ability to add a letter and form some other words. And that’s how it was today, with SNOOP(Y), DROOP(Y), GOOF(Y), and LAD(Y) all being CARTOON DOGS MINUS “Y.”
Completing Purple meant I didn’t have to worry so much about the other groups, as I only needed two of the three (supposedly) easier ones. I got them in the form of KINDS OF REELS (blue) and GATHERING SPOT OUTSIDE A RESIDENCE (yellow), which meant I could keep my streak going for another day.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games from the New York Times. You have to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a bit harder, blue is often quite difficult, and purple is usually very difficult.
The upside is that you don’t technically have to solve the final puzzle, as you can solve it by process of elimination. Plus, you’re allowed to make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little wiggle room.
It is a bit more complicated than Wordle, however, and has many ways to trick you. For example, watch out for homophones and other wordplay that could obscure the answers.
It can be played for free on desktop or mobile via the NYT Games site.
