NWS confirms EF-1 tornadoes damaged parts of Noble and LaGrange counties on Tuesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed Wednesday evening that EF-1 tornadoes devastated parts of Noble and LaGrange counties on Tuesday.

According to the NWS, an EF-1 tornado touched down about 2 miles south-southeast of Ligonier in Noble County at 4:13 p.m., traveled 7.5 miles with estimated peak sustained winds of 105 mph (169 km/h), and ended about 2 miles east-southeast of Topeka at 4:36 p.m.

According to the NWS, damage includes several fallen trees and damage to several homes and farm buildings. No injuries were reported.

According to the NWS, an EF-1 tornado touched down at 5:01 p.m. about 2 miles northeast of Oliver Lake in LaGrange County, traveled 2 miles with estimated peak sustained winds of 95 mph (153 km/h), and ended at 5:08 p.m. about 2 miles south-southwest of Plato.

According to the NWS, this tornado was part of the same storm as the EF-1 tornado in Noble County.

Fallen trees and damage to houses and farm buildings were again reported. In addition, two people were reported to be slightly injured.

The EF-1 tornadoes in Noble and LaGrange counties are two of four tornadoes confirmed by the NWS as part of Tuesday’s storms in northern Indiana. Additional EF-0 tornadoes occurred in St. Joseph, Indiana and Camden, Michigan.
