No. 4 seed Penn State will open Big Ten Conference play on Wednesday night when it travels to West Lafayette, Indiana, to play No. 10 seed Purdue.

The action starts at 7 p.m. EDT and you can watch it on the Big Ten Network or stream it live on fubo TV (FREE trial), Sling TV (discount) or DirecTV Stream (FREE trial or discount).

Penn State enters conference play with a 10-1 record and is now ranked fourth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings.

The Nittany Lions’ only loss this season was against No. 1 Pitt. The Panthers came out of the gate quickly and dominated Penn State en route to a 3-0 victory.

Izzy Starck was named Big Ten volleyball freshman of the week on Monday after leading the Nittany Lions to victories over James Madison and Yale, both of which made last year’s NCAA tournament.

Starck received the award for the third time in the first four weeks of the season, making her the first Penn State player since Jonni Parker in 2018 to receive the honor three times in one season.

The setter helped the Nittany Lions win the Penn State Classic, averaging 11.71 assists per set and leading the team to a .351 hitting average. She had 47 assists, 12 digs, five kills, two aces and two blocks in the four-set win over Yale.

Purdue (9-2) is coming off its first two losses of the season, losing to Kansas (then No. 10) and Creighton (then No. 9) in the Jayhawk Classic.

After a comeback win over Tulsa that ended a two-game losing streak, the Boilermakers could have a huge advantage when they return to their home field on Wednesday.

“I think Purdue plays fast and I know they play really well at home,” coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley told the Daily Collegian. “It’s going to be crowded, so we’ve got to be focused and ready from the first whistle.”

Among her leaders is Raven Colvin, who Schumacher-Cawley says impressed her from the middle.
