NFL stars are not guaranteed a spot on the USA flag football team at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles

Flag football becomes one of five sports added to the Olympic program for the next games in Los Angeles in 2028 And several NFL players have shown interest or desire to be part of the participating team.

However, not everyone is happy about it. Daniel Housh Doucettethe quarterback of the US national flag football team, insists that everyone has to earn their place on the Olympic team – even the stars of the NFL. Doucette believes that the arrogance of some players in the league is that they believe they can automatically take the places he and his teammates have worked hard for.

“We are the ones who promoted this sport”

In an interview with The Guardian, Doucette said he had interpreted the promotional video for the upcoming Olympic Games, in which Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts throws a ball into the cauldron at the Los Angeles Coliseum as a threat.

I find it disrespectful that they automatically assume that they can just join the Olympic team. Because of their personalities, they did not contribute to the game developing into the Olympic Games. Give your respect to the guys who helped get this game to where it is,” Doucette said. “We just don’t think they’re going to go on the field and make the Olympic team because of the name, right? You still have to go out and compete.”

The US flag football team wins gold medal at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, thanks in large part to Doucette. The team dominated the tournament with comprehensive victories over Denmark, Panama and France in the group stage, then easily defeated Germany and Austria before 46:36 victory against Italy in the final.

What is flag football?

Flag football is a non-contact sport in which tackles are carried out by Removing one of the two vinyl flags attached to the ball carrier’s waist – one on each side. Each team has four attempts – known as Depths – To reach the center line. If they are successful, they have four more attempts to reach the end zone and score a touchdownIf either point is unsuccessful, the ball is passed to the opponent, who starts at his own five-yard line.

Sales also occur due to Intercept – when a defender catches a ball intended for a receiver – and fumbleswhen the ball carrier drops the ball and a defender catches it. No running plays are allowed when the offensive team is five yards or less from the end zone.

After a touchdownwhich is worth six points, the teams attempt to score an extra point from the five-yard line by running or passing, or two extra points from the 10-yard line.
