NFL power rankings based on Super Bowl odds prior to Week 5 (Jayden Daniels Time, Chi

Another week, another surprise round in the NFL!

2024 has been a crazy season full of surprises, with the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all picking up surprise wins on Sunday.

Now, there were a few contenders – Kansas City, San Francisco and Houston – that made it through Week 4 unscathed, but a lot still needs to change at the top of our NFL power rankings – based on Super Bowl odds – heading into Week 5 .

There are still two games left on Monday night, which could ultimately change how I feel about these teams, but after Sunday’s action there are some pretty clear winners.

Rookie quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix all picked up wins on Sunday, and all of their teams are at .500 or better through four weeks. Washington is up 3-1, and it might be time to start taking the Commanders seriously as a wild-card threat in the NFC.

Here’s how everyone fares after Week 4’s action on Sunday!

Kansas City moved to 4-0 but may have lost Rashee Rice (knee). Travis Kelce had his best game of the season on Sunday, but losing Rice would be a major blow to this offense.

Buffalo laid an egg on the road against Baltimore on Sunday Night Football, but I’ll leave the 3-1 Bills in second place. Buffalo still has some impressive wins and losses to a contender this season. At +900, Josh Allen and Co. would still be a solid bet to win the Super Bowl.

Deebo Samuel and George Kittle were back in Week 4 and the 49ers celebrated a home win over the New England Patriots. If this team can get healthy, it’s still the class of the NFC.

Sam Darnold

Let’s be honest. This Vikings team is a problem. Minnesota is now 4-0, beating two opponents in the NFC (Green Bay and San Francisco) and one in the AFC (Houston along the way). This price is much lower than it was at the beginning of the season, but Sam Darnold and Co. deserve some respect as they are one of the few teams still undefeated.

Can Detroit keep up with a win over undefeated Seattle on Monday night and stay a game behind Minnesota?

Well, just like that, the Ravens are back under +1000 to win the Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry dominated the Bills on Sunday night, and Baltimore has strung together wins against the Cowboys and Bills to get back to .500 this season.

CJ Strou

Houston may not have won comfortably in 2024, but they are 3-1 in probably the weakest league in football and have a pretty clear chance of a playoff spot.

The Eagles have struggled badly on both sides of the ball and were blown out by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. At 2-2, Philly isn’t a sure thing in a suddenly difficult NFC East division.

Baker Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield and the Bucs defeated another NFC contender – Philly – in Week 4 and are 3-1. There may be some ups and downs with this team, but after winning the NFC South last season, I’m still a big fan of this group to repeat that feat in 2024.

The Packers are now 0-2 against Jordan Love and 2-0 against Malik Willis. Ewing theory, anyone? Seriously, Green Bay should be fine, but it’s concerning that Love has four picks in two games so far in 2024.

Micah Parsons

Dallas picked up an important win on Thursday night, but Micah Parson and DeMarcus Lawrence were injured in the process. This causes some concern if you are thinking about betting on this team to win the Super Bowl.

The undefeated Seahawks want to continue as underdogs in Detroit on Monday evening.

An ugly home loss as 7.5-point favorites to Denver could come back to haunt the Jets in a loaded AFC.

Justin Fields.

Pittsburgh’s defense allowed more points on Sunday than it did in the first three weeks of the season. That’s not a recipe for success for this team, but at 3-1, Pittsburgh is still in position to contend for the playoffs through four weeks.

A last-second field goal gave the Falcons a huge division win over the Saints on Sunday. While there is some doubt about this team’s suitability as a Super Bowl contender, Atlanta has shown that it should compete for a playoff spot in 2024.

Cincinnati finally won a game — against the Carolina Panthers — but it has a lot more to do before the know-it-alls start thinking about investing in their future. The Bengals are still just 1-3 this season.

Terry McLaurin

Washington is 3-1 and leads the NFC East, and Jayden Daniels looks as good as advertised. Can this defense, which struggled at times in 2024, sustain Washington’s rise to the playoffs?

The Chargers’ back-to-back losses – with Justin Herbert injured – should certainly be a concern for the Broncos and Raiders, who are also 2-2 this season.

Well, the first two weeks were fun for the Saints. After two straight losses, New Orleans is now third in the NFC South and already has a loss to Atlanta.

Joe Flacco

At 2-2, Indy sits firmly in second place in the AFC South, and Joe Flacco solidly filled in for the injured Anthony Richardson. The Colts have a four-week playoff lead.

Caleb Williams continues to settle in and the Bears are back to .500 this season after a win against the Rams in Week 4. The NFC North is shaping up to be the best division in the NFL at this point in the season.

Miami is 1-2 and has its third starting quarterback in four weeks. Simply put, without Tua Tagovailoa — or a trade for a top-notch QB — this team isn’t worth betting on at this point in the season.

Sean McVay

Injuries have beaten the Rams down so far in 2024, and I’m cautious about betting on them at 1-3 in the futures market because there’s so much uncertainty about when they’ll reach full strength.

I wouldn’t attack the Raiders with a 10-foot rod on the futures market since Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby are banged up, but they beat Cleveland to get back to .500 on the season on Sunday.

No, we are not betting that Denver will be a playoff team as Bo Nix still has a lot of work to do. But this defense is ELITE, holding the Jets to just nine points and no touchdowns in Sunday’s win. At 2-2, Denver shows that things are already lively in 2024.

Kyler Murray

I’m not entirely sold on the Cardinals, but they play in a tough division and are 1-3. At that number, I wouldn’t bet them, and I don’t think they’re – right now – a playoff team in the NFC.

Another week, another poor offensive performance and a loss for the Cleveland Browns, who are now 1-3 and don’t have Joe Flacco to save them.

Jacksonville is now 0-4 after a last-minute loss to Houston on Sunday. Doug Pederson is in the hot seat and this team is far, far, far away in any futures market.

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones didn’t play badly against Dallas on Thursday night – but he wasn’t good. Now Malik Nabers has a concussion and the Giants are 1-3. I couldn’t even imagine betting on them making the playoffs.

Carolina lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4, but the offense continues to be much improved under Andy Dalton. As I said last week, this shouldn’t be viewed as a win for Carolina, which has invested so heavily in Bryce Young.

There’s a chance the Titans end up at 0-4 on Monday night. Can they beat an undermanned Miami team that starts Tyler Huntley at quarterback?

Jacoby Brissett

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett. / Neville E. Guard-Imagn Images

To put it simply: The Patriots won’t gain much with Jacoby Brissett under center, but they may not want to risk injuring rookie Drake Maye behind a suspect offensive line. After winning in Week 1, the Pats have had three poor performances since then, falling to 1-3.
