NFL fans were angry after Jordan Mason admitted he knew he would start since Friday

Jordan Mason was the man of the hour on Monday night after stepping in for the San Francisco 49ers in their season opener against the New York Jets due to the absence of Christian McCaffrey.

Mason dominated the field, scoring 147 rushing yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, and earned the starting spot after McCaffrey was sidelined with a calf injury.

While NFL fans didn’t know until shortly before kickoff on Monday that McCaffrey would not play, Mason revealed to ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he already knew on Friday that he would be in the starting lineup for the first time.

This admission from Mason has stunned football fans. The 49ers were tight-lipped about McCaffrey’s availability before the game, even though the star running back was listed as questionable after not playing in the preseason. McCaffrey’s absence had a significant impact on fantasy football managers and sports bettors, many of whom were banking on a big performance from the 28-year-old.

After Mason announced that he had known for several days that he would be the team’s starting running back for Monday’s game, fans couldn’t help but vent their frustration.
