New streaming TV shows and movies on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney+ and more

It’s that time again – the weekend is finally here! It’s another beautiful fall weekend and I highly recommend getting outside in nature, especially if you live somewhere green. Of course, it also gets cooler in the evenings, which is the perfect time to catch up on the latest shows on Netflix, Prime Video and elsewhere. There’s a ton of it out there right now, and most of it is great – except for a few bitches.

Every week I keep track of all the new TV shows, movies, documentaries, and everything else that comes out on the many streaming services we subscribe to these days. In this weekly guide, I round up the ones I think are worth checking out. If I have missed something, I am of course always happy to receive tips from you, dear readers!

New shows and movies

We’ll start with the new stuff and a few things I missed last week, starting with . . . .

The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 3 (Prime Video)

The Legend of Vox Machina is not only one of the best fantasy series out there, it’s also one of my favorite series of the era. I just love all the characters so much and they are all voiced by such talented actors! Based on the Critical Role D&D campaign, the series is a super-condensed adaptation that’s funny, raunchy, emotionally poignant, and a whole lot of fun. It is very for adults, so don’t confuse this with a cartoon for children. I recently interviewed the entire main cast, you can check that out and more information about the show here.

Yellowjackets Season 1 (Netflix)

I recently wrote about it Yellowjackets is finally coming to Netflix. The first season is truly one of my absolute favorite shows in years and I highly recommend it to anyone who will listen. I’ve seen it three times and it’s a great watch every time. The second season. . . Well, the less we say about it, the better. But if you like some good spooky paranormal mystery and survival stuff, check this out.

Nobody Wants That (Netflix)

Nobody wants that I believe it actually came out on Netflix last week, but it stayed under my radar and it was pretty popular, so I thought I’d include it this weekend instead. I loved Kristen Bell The good place (Another show I highly recommend) So the romantic comedy gets points for the great cast. However, I haven’t watched it yet, so I can’t really say much about it other than it’s getting great reviews and should scratch that romantic comedy itch.

Heartstopper Season 3 (Netflix)

The latest popular romance series to return on Netflix is heart stopper, which is back for a third season. This is another film I haven’t seen yet, even though it’s quite popular and has been well received by fans of LGBTQ fare.

The Franchise (HBO/Max)

I saw the first episode of The franchise, HBO’s new parody series. It’s about the set of a superhero movie – essentially a parody of how the MCU works – and it’s pretty funny so far. I was drawn to it because of Himesh Patel, who I adored in the wonderful post-apocalyptic HBO series Station eleven. That was such a great show! If you haven’t seen it yet, please give it a try. I haven’t made up my mind about it yet The franchise Still, it was pretty funny in the first episode. There is also Daniel Brühl, by whom you will recognize him Captain America: Civil War And Disreputable bastards.

Salem’s Lot (HBO/Max)

Another attempt to draw magic from Stephen King’s famous book Salem’s property. I’ve heard mixed things, but I haven’t seen the film yet. A lot of people seem pretty disappointed, but that’s become normal with King’s adaptations. If you don’t like it, maybe take a look The outsider on HBO, which I liked even more than the book.

Hold Your Breath (Hulu)

Another scary movie offering is Hold your breath with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Annaleigh Ashford. It takes place during the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma and presents a paranormal threat at this dramatic time.

Joker 2 (in cinemas)

I really liked Joaquin Phoenix’s first novel joker So I’m a little surprised that the reviews for the sequel are so bad. Slide A Deux, with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. I’ll obviously decide for myself when I see it in the theater sometime (but I have to see it first). The wild robot).

Okay, let’s look at the many, many shows currently airing weekly. I watch most of them or write about them here on this blog.

Ongoing shows

Daryl Dixon Season 2 – The Book Of Carol (AMC)

I was really hoping that the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon would forgo all the stupid story elements that dragged out the first season. I think the basics of a good story were there in Season 1, but they got lost in all the “chosen one” nonsense. Well, my hopes were dashed by the incredibly stupid season premiere of The Book Of Carol, but the bright side is that things can only get better from here, right? New episodes appear on Sundays.

Agatha All Along (Disney+)

I enjoyed Disney’s witch adventure series Agatha all the time, It’s about the witch Agatha Harkness – played by the delightful Kathryn Hahn – and her coven as they walk the dangerous witch path. But I have to admit that the fourth episode was much weaker than the first three, and at times I felt like I was watching a rough draft or a community theater production. Hopefully things will pick up steam next week. New episodes appear on Wednesday evenings.

The Penguin (HBO/Max)

I enjoyed it The penguin Pretty much so far, but I’m still not entirely convinced after just two episodes. I didn’t like the second one as much as the first and I’m wondering where the story is going. It’s good, but I also find all the comparisons to it The sopranos a bit funny (apart from superficial observation, that’s not the case). The sopranos). AB Season 3 (MGM+)

We’re only two episodes deep into the third season of the spooky series OUT OF And so far it looks like it’s going to be great, perhaps the best season yet, although it’s too early to tell. The show follows a group of people stuck in a mysterious city where evil lurks around every corner. Mystery, suspense, terror – it’s all here in abundance. Read my review of episode 2 here. Slow Horses Season 4 (Apple TV+)

Season 4 of the excellent spy thriller Slow horses is one of the best ever, with a really gripping plot and lots of tension and mystery – not to mention the laughs. I love Gary Oldman in this role, which is a nice contrast to his other famous spy character, George Smiley. You can read my review of the latest episode here. New episodes appear on Tuesday evenings / Wednesdays.

Only Murders In The Building Season 4 (Hulu)

I watched the latest episode of Just murders in the building It’s “the most creative episode yet,” and I stand by that assessment. Season 4 of the podcasting mystery series is a return to form, easily the best since the first season. It’s a great crime thriller with lots of fun twists and is funny but not too silly, if that makes sense. I love it and look forward to releasing new episodes on Hulu every Monday night/Tuesday.

Bad Monkey (Apple TV)

Gosh, I’m watching a lot of shows right now and I’ve actually managed to write something about every single one of them! I finally wrote a post about why Bad monkey is so much fun with only one episode left in the season. Things keep getting worse for just about everyone in this comedic mystery series. Vince Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy embraces his inner hero as a hurricane hits. It’s very exciting!

The Rings of Power (Prime Video)

Lastly – and worst, I suppose – is Amazon’s disastrous second season The Rings of Power which aired the finale of the second season this Thursday. I wasn’t impressed. The series looks great, has a great soundtrack and some really great actors, but not only does it muddle Tolkien’s work, it also fails at basic storytelling and filmmaking. Will Amazon learn some lessons before Season 3? I keep my fingers crossed, but don’t hold my breath.
