This week Current The court report contains indictments and verdicts from Monday and Tuesday’s sessions of Nantucket District Court in a case involving a Boston man who attacked police officers last week, spitting so violently that they tried to put a mask on his face.
Kyle Woodlock31, of Boston, was charged on August 9 with assault on a police officer (four counts), assault on emergency personnel, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and disturbing the public peace. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on August 28.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to Cru Restaurant because a group of men refused to leave the restaurant. A Cru employee directed officers to Woodlock, who was sitting on the ground outside.
When officers tried to arrange a ride home for Woodlock, he gave them an ultimatum: either they would drive him home or they would keep driving.
Whitlock then raised his voice and told police he had done nothing illegal. Police told him he was disturbing customers, and when they tried to get him up, Woodlock clung to an umbrella pole. He was eventually handcuffed, but he was “dead weight” – forcing officers to drag him to the patrol car.
According to police, Woodlock actively resisted getting into the patrol car, using his knees and legs to try to prevent him from getting in. They had to use physical force to force him into the patrol car.
When they arrived at the police station, Whitlock refused to get out of the patrol car, forcing police to remove him. He was placed in a holding cell, and when officers attempted to place shackles on him, Whitlock was “extremely uncooperative and unruly” while moving his body back and forth in the cell.
Police further said that Whitlock spat in the direction of a female officer but missed. His behavior resulted in the Nantucket Fire Department being called for assistance, and he spat at two officers and an EMT and grabbed another female officer by the ankle – preventing her from leaving the cell.
Police said Whitlock spat at them so violently that they tried to put a mask on him.
Officers eventually managed to get Whitlock onto a stretcher. While he was being carried, he attempted to kick a firefighter.
More news from Nantucket District Court: Eugene T. Butler44, of Nantucket pleaded guilty on May 15 to assault on a family/household member and was sentenced to six months in the Barnstable House of Corrections. The sentence will be suspended if he completes 15 months of probation and pays a $50 witness and victim fee.
A charge of resisting prosecution related to the same incident will continue without verdict for 15 months on the condition that he completes his probation without violation. A charge of disorderly conduct related to the same incident was dismissed.
Christian J. Clifford38, of Boston, has a June 10 charge of driving under the influence of alcohol continued without adjudication for one year on the conditions that he complete his probation without violation, participate in a drunk driving education program, lose his license for 45 days and pay a $600 fine.
Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and improper operation of a motor vehicle related to the same incident were dropped.
Oscar Cabrera Marketfrom Nantucket was found not guilty by a jury on seven counts of assault and two counts of disturbing the peace.
Marcus S. Murray53, of Nantucket, was charged with assault on a person over 60 and assault on a family/household member on April 19, and a charge of violating a restraining order preventing abuse was dropped on April 22 after the alleged victim in that case refused to cooperate with prosecutors.
Roni J. Manon Perez41, of Nantucket was arraigned on August 9. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, negligent driving, and failure to obey lane markings and traffic signals. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 3.
Damian Ramos-Snow42, of Nantucket was charged with distributing obscene matter on July 4. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on October 15.
According to the police report, an investigation by Barnstable Police revealed that Ramos-Snow allegedly sent videos and images of a woman performing sexual acts on him to third parties.
The case was originally scheduled to be heard in Barnstable District Court, but it turned out that the material was distributed on Nantucket.
Jonathan H. Renz61, of Greenich, Connecticut, is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol on June 13, which will be continued without adjudication for one year. The conditions are that he complete his probation without violation, attend a drunk driving education program, lose his license for 45 days and pay a $600 fine.
Charges of speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and violation of marked road markings related to the same incident were dropped.
Timothy A. UhranThe 40-year-old had charges of threatening to commit a crime and disturbing the peace dropped before arraignment on March 12, despite being charged under the Valor Act.
