PARKERSBURG – A member of the Mountain State Sportsmen’s Association’s Big Reds Archery Team in Parkersburg placed at the International Bowhunting Organization’s World Championship.
Parker Crum, son of Mike and Marie Crum of Whipple, Ohio, took third place in the competition, which was held August 8-11 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. His coach is Jim Parsons.
Crum graduated from Fort Frye High School this year and will attend Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, where he will join the Muskie archery team.
The IBO World Championships allow the best competitors in 3D archery to showcase their talent at unknown distances. There are two days of qualifying, with the top five competitors in each class competing in the finals. Crum was in fourth place in qualifying before the final day, when his last arrow determined his placing.
Crum was named Ohio State Shooter of the Year by the Archery Shooter’s Association. He is sponsored by PSE Archery, Bohning Archery, Optix 300, Joey’s Bowstrings and TruBall Axcel.
