Michigan State Spartans football at Oregon Ducks

Three-and-out for MSU, Ducks take over

Nice decision by the Chileans not to impose anything on a third and a million. A nice punt from Ryan Eckley and another play from Spencer turn the field around.

Oregon returns the favor; The Spartans attack Dillon Gabriel

Call it balanced! Shortly after forcing a turnover at their own one-yard line, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel throws an interception at the Spartan line. Malik Spencer made a very athletic diving catch to secure the pick and Michigan State took over after the touchback.

The Chileans fumble at the 1 and thus waste their golden chance to score

This is getting ridiculous. Another drive in which Michigan State marches the ball directly down the field ends in a turnover. This is a fumble by Aidan Chiles as he reached into the end zone. The most frustrating thing for Spartan fans is how good Chiles looks, too. Several great throws, including a deep bomb to Nick Marsh that put the Spartans within two, set up the scoring opportunity. But a step forward has too often been followed by a step backwards for us to be able to keep up with the big players.

Hello defense!

Michigan State won the toss and gave the ball to the Ducks. That turned out to be a good call. The Spartans force a three-pointer and the offense has a chance to move forward early.

Let’s get this party started

Nice surprise late this evening for Michiganders. Tigers announcer Jason Benetti is based in Eugene for Fox. 3-2 Spartans and 4-0 Ducks on deck.

The Spartans continue the core of their program with a trip across the country to face undefeated and No. 6 ranked Oregon on the national stage.

After a 38-7 home loss to Ohio State, Michigan State faces another top 10 team, but this time on the road. The Spartans ran the ball well against the Buckeyes and didn’t look physically outmatched most of the night, but costly turnovers and mistakes proved too much to keep up with Ohio State.

These mistakes must be limited as the Spartans advance into one of the most hostile areas in the country. However, Oregon has let its opponents hang around in home games so far. The Ducks needed a late score to defeat FCS Idaho in Week 1, only defeating Boise State of the Mountain West by a score of 37-34. Oregon has had two dominant road performances in the last two weeks, with a 49-14 win over Oregon State and a 34-13 win at UCLA.
