Maryland strikes first on the first 75-yard touchdown drive
This is probably not how the Spartans envisioned Big Ten play. The Terps moved the ball in all sorts of ways during a 14-play scoring drive by Maryland. The secondary will be in action today, with Maryland shooting the ball through the air all over the field. Maryland quarterback Billy Edwards was 6/8 on the drive.
Start
Michigan State will start on defense. Let’s go!
After defeating Florida Atlantic in the season opener last weekend, Michigan State travels to Maryland to open Big Ten play, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Spartans had some offensive issues in Week 1, committing three turnovers and giving up 16 points in the win over FAU. Quarterback Aidan Chiles and the Spartans will look to raise their level in Week 2.
Defensively, Michigan State committed two turnovers, allowed 10 points and even scored two points on a safety. After a defense that offered little resistance for most of last season, this was a welcome sign for MSU fans.
Maryland opened its season with a 50-7 win over UConn. Maryland head coach Mike Locksley is in his sixth season and the Terps are coming off an 8-5 season. Locksley has a 2-2 record against Michigan State, including a 31-9 win in East Lansing last year.
