Michael B. Jordan has basically already had a Superman movie and he deserves a sequel

They come for the weapon because they need it for a war. Their species is fighting a mysterious enemy – an empire that the Cleaner says would wipe them all out. The twist is that Eli is one of the good aliens. He comes from a special lineage and is hidden on Earth, just like Kal-El from Krypton is sent to Earth as a refugee. After a comfortable childhood with the Kents in Smallville, Kal-El becomes the Clark Kent of DC. He then builds a career as a journalist in Metropolis. But Eli doesn’t have such a happy life.

Unlike Superman, Eli grew up in a seedy city full of crime, drugs and murder. He also struggles with racial issues, despite Hal’s best efforts to defuse them. The cleaner admits that Eli is a messiah and that one day they will come back for him. He gives it a special mark and nods because the House of El has its own seal. He even calls him “brother,” suggesting (as the title suggests) that they are related. The cleaner goes with his comrade. Throughout the film, the Cleaner is a subverted Jor-El figure, replacing the holograms found in the Fortress of Solitude or Clark’s birth ship.

When time is released again, the cleaners arrange things so that Taylor is shot. Jimmy serves his sentence while Milly comes to look after Eli. Since there is no weapon nearby, the brothers are not charged with terrorism. Instead, relationship ends with the narrative that Eli must undergo training, become a warrior, and wait for the day when he will be called up for war. It’s a reverse version of Supermanwith Eli being a hero his planet will need in the coming war.

Kin deserves a sequel

Fans would love to see Eli grow up and learn more about his family history, how he was left on Earth, how his parents made the call, and what happened to his family. Things like how Hal found him and how the gun ended up in Detroit would fill the first film. But arcs where Jimmy wants to join the war and not abandon his brother could add nuance to a new story arc. Kravitz is also a high-profile Hollywood star, such as with her role as Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. She also directed Blink twiceand explodes even bigger.
