PORTLAND, Oregon (COIN) – The Disappearance and murder of Melissa Jubanea nurse at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, has shocked the Portland metropolitan area.

Here’s what we know so far about Jubane’s final days, the reported time of her disappearance, community search efforts, and other details about the murder investigation.

August 2024

Melissa Jubane, 32, married her long-time partner of ten years, Bryan Llantero, on August 24 on Oahu, Hawaii. The ceremony took place on August 25 with family and friends in Waimea Valley. according to KOIN 6 News’ affiliate station KHON.

Jubane’s mother-in-law told KHON that the couple met when Jubane was visiting Hawaii, and from there the two traveled back and forth to see each other.

“She is very humble, she is very pretty, she is smart, she is very intelligent and very respectful,” her mother-in-law told KHON. “She is like a daughter to me, she is very close to me.”

The newlyweds flew back to the mainland on Aug. 31 but did not land until the early hours of Sept. 1, Jubane’s mother-in-law told KHON. They enjoyed a Labor Day day off before Llantero, an active member of the U.S. Navy, reported for work in Washington state and Jubane went to work on Tuesday, Jubane’s mother-in-law said.

4 September 2024

Authorities said Beaverton police received a call around 10:18 a.m. requesting a welfare check for Jubane because she had failed to report for her morning shift at Providence St. Vincent.

Officers then went to Jubane’s residence at 1050 SW 160th Ave. in Beaverton and searched it. Beaverton police said attempts by investigators and her family to reach her via her cellphone were “unsuccessful” because her phone appeared to be turned off.

“In addition, searches of Melissa’s bank and credit card records did not reveal any new information about her whereabouts,” Beaverton police said in a statement on Saturday.

According to Beaverton police, Jubane’s disappearance was recorded in national law enforcement databases at 3:12 p.m.

At 9:05 a.m., Beaverton Police released limited information about Jubane’s disappearance on the Law enforcement agency Facebook page.

At 9:35 p.m., KOIN 6 News received a call from Beaverton police informing the station of the missing person case.

5 September 2024

Beaverton police did not release many details. ongoing investigations throughout the day. Providence confirmed Jubane’s employment as a cardiac nurse at St. Vincent Medical Center. Search efforts were organized in the community for the next day.

However, Beaverton police confirmed to KOIN 6 News the next morning that officers used a bloodhound during their search of the apartment complex and questioned most of the people present there Thursday evening.

6 September 2024

Community members and relatives began searching for Jubane at 7 a.m. on Friday in the area surrounding their apartment complex. Another search led by community members began at 7:30 p.m. Over the course of the day, about 100 people show up.

“You hear and see about missing people all over the world, and when it’s someone you really care about and are very close to, it just doesn’t feel real,” former colleague Samantha Oregon told KOIN 6 News on Friday. “It’s like you don’t want it to be real.”

7 September 2024

At 3:02 am, Beaverton Police release new information about the arrest of a suspect – Jubane’s neighbor, identified as 27-year-old Bryce Schubert – and that they had recovered Jubane’s remains.

Booking information from Washington County authorities shows Schubert was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder. It is unclear when he is due to appear in court and whether he currently has an attorney.

Further details were not immediately available.
