Rumors of the death of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are greatly exaggerated. While the franchise has had a few difficult outings recently, the recent success of Deadpool and Wolverine and the excitement surrounding Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom shows that many fans are still pretty excited about what the future holds. And with the MCU doing well both in theaters and on Disney+, pretty much anything is possible.
But while anything is possible, some things are certainly less likely, and we can make any kind of avenger TV series on Disney+. The MCU has hinted at possibilities with some spin-off teams of the Avengers, but Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum told CinemaBlend ahead of the upcoming Marvel TV series Agatha – All the time that the structure of Avengers storytelling would make such a series challenging at best. He explained…
While we know the Avengers will reunite in two upcoming Marvel movies, there may still be room for a smaller Avengers story on Disney+. The end of The miracles announced the start of a Young Avengers team, and considering that both Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop began their careers on the Disney+ series, the idea that a Young Avengers project could air on Disney+ makes perfect sense.
While Winderbaum’s argument that it would be difficult to pull off a multi-episode series centered around an Avengers team is valid, this would actually be a rare situation for an MCU series on Disney+. Almost everything Marvel Studios has brought to Disney+ has been a one-episode series, and it feels like a one-episode series. Young Avengers or West Coast Avengers Series where the team comes together for the first time would certainly work.
Nevertheless, the name Avengers is a term that can sell a lot of movie tickets. So there are obvious reasons why projects with Avengers in the name will be films rather than series. Of course, without any announced Young Avengers Film is unclear when or if the threads of this story will be picked up.
