Manager of Cape Girardeau Regional Airport moves to Tennessee State University

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri (KFVS) – Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Manager Katrina Amos is resigning from her position with the city government at the end of the month.

Amos is the second senior city leader to leave the country in the past two months.

During her tenure at the airport, Amos oversaw the construction of a new terminal and an agreement with Contour Aviation for passenger service to Nashville.

The new terminal will begin receiving passengers next week.

In October, Contour will begin passenger service to Chicago, replacing Nashville. Several surveys of airport passengers showed that they preferred Chicago as a destination because of the connecting flights to more destinations.

Amos, a native of Sikeston, replaced longtime airport manager Bruce Loy in January 2020. She has worked for the City of Cape Girardeau for 19 years, including 16 years at the Cape Girardeau Airport.

Amos led the airport service through the impacts of COVID-19. In 2022, Skywest canceled its flights between Cape Girardeau and Chicago, so Amos helped negotiate the agreement to introduce Contour as a replacement service.

According to the city, it helped establish a partnership with Southeast Missouri State University to support aviation-related programs such as the Professional Pilot Program at the airport.

Amos will serve as assistant city manager for Collierville, Tennessee starting next month.

“It has been an honor to serve as airport manager of the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport,” Amos said in a released statement. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and I am confident the airport will continue to thrive for years to come. I look forward to future opportunities in my new role as assistant city manager in Collierville, Tennessee.”

According to the city, the announcement of a new airport manager is imminent.
