Man City coach Pep Guardiola satisfied with performance against Inter Milan: “We played well against a wonderful team and improved in the 2023 UCL final”

Man City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance against a “wonderful” Inter Milan side in their opening Champions League match.

The Premier League giants have been overwhelming their domestic rivals since the start of the season.

However, they had great difficulties against the Nerazzurri, who attacked them with counterattacks throughout the game.

In the end, the two European giants settled for a draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola, on the other hand, stressed that he already knew that it would be a tough test for his team.

“It was a difficult game, but we knew that beforehand,” said the Spaniard in his interview with Prime Video via FcInterNews.

“Inter are a wonderful team. They defended well and were dangerous on the counterattack. But we played well in the second half and had at least 4-5 chances.”

“But we are also a fantastic team. I am very happy to be able to coach this group and attack against a team that defends so well. And let’s not forget that they are Italian champions.”

Guardiola insists Man City have improved since beating Inter Milan in the UCL final

Guardiola also noted that his team had improved compared to the last time the two teams met in the 2022/23 Champions League final.

“There was nothing I didn’t like. I liked everything about my team. I’m very happy to be able to attack with 11 men who know how to cover and double up.”

“When they had the ball, we had to work hard. Of course, we had to defend a lot. You should Inter at least a few chances.

“At this level, you can’t have 20 chances to score. We had five and played even better than in the final two years ago, even though we didn’t win this time.”

In the 2023 final, Man City beat the Nerazzurri thanks to a single goal from Rodri, but Inter were praised for their courageous performance at the time.
