Two women were shot dead in a Garland apartment complex Tuesday morning. A man is facing murder charges, police said.

According to a Garland police news release, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Broadway Commons just after 8 a.m. Upon arrival, officers noticed the front door of the residence had been forced open, police said.

Officers looked around inside and discovered two small children. As police entered the apartment, a fire broke out behind a closed bedroom door. Officers took cover and began issuing orders, police said.
