Man accused of selling drugs in his Fox Valley furniture store is sentenced to 12 years in prison

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A man accused of selling fentanyl out of his Grand Chute furniture store was sentenced to 12½ years in prison in federal court this week.

Turner, 32, owned Turner’s Discount Furniture on W. College Ave.

A criminal complaint says the Lake Winnebago Police Department arranged drug buys and recorded phone conversations with Turner before arresting him in December. A confidential informant said Turner was a major fentanyl supplier in the area and sold drugs from his store and apartment in Kaukauna.

When officers searched Turner’s store, they found fentanyl and suspected cocaine. Inside his apartment, they found a suspected heroin-fentanyl mixture, two 9mm handguns and a bag full of counterfeit $20 bills, according to court documents.

The state charges were dropped when the case went to federal court in January.

Turner pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to resell, possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of firearms as a convicted felon.

Turner was sentenced in federal court in Green Bay on Tuesday. U.S. Magistrate Judge William Griesbach cited Turner’s gun possession after he was convicted of aggravated robberies in Outagamie and Winnebago counties. The judge also compared the sale of fentanyl to trafficking poison and said Turner enriched Mexican drug cartels.

After Turner serves his prison sentence, he will spend eight years on probation.
