Luke Bryan raps in Jimmy Fallon’s “Football Party Patrol” video

There’s something wrong with Jimmy Fallon’s football party…literally.

How to watch

Regard The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on NBC weekdays at 11:35/10:35c and the next day on Peacock.

Country music star Luke Bryan and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter of The Roots rush in – with permed mullets and matching gold jerseys – to celebrate a sad football party at Tonight Show Sketch “Football Party Patrol” from the sketch.

“I got the wings marinated in the fridge / With the sauce so hot it burns your lips,” Bryan and Trotter rap, taking turns singing “If you need a drink, we got ’em all / Cheese curls, cheese balls, and of course, cheese balls!”

At that moment, Fallon, disguised as another member of the Party Patrol, comes in with a huge fish in his hand – a 15-pound cod, to be exact.

Trying to keep the spirits up, Bryan and Trotter ignore Fallon as they prattle on about game day classics like seven layer dip and guacamole and chips. The smell of BBQ wings is masked by fish as Fallon microwaves his cod – trying to win over the party guests with his tasty treat.

Microwaving fish at a social gathering? Is that a sketch or a room on Tonightmares?

When Fallon tries to sell the reheated cod to his friends from the Party Patrol, they suggest he put it in the freezer, outside, or finally… in the trash. The Tonight Show Host loses his temper and shouts at his football fans: “Nobody is going to throw the cod in the trash. Everyone is going to eat the cod because I brought it.”

“If someone brings a dish to a party, you try it. Just one bite, that’s the party patrol’s polite rule,” Fallon says angrily.

Bryan and Trotter give in and each try a bite of cod. After a tough taste test, they realize they were too harsh on Fallon’s unconventional appetizer – and that the cod is actually delicious?

The sketch ends with the party in full swing and the Football Party Patrol rapping about the virtues of eating cod while giant fish dance behind them.

“We are the Football Party Patrol, getting your party out of control. So if you need snacks for your squad, call the Party Patrol and we’ll bring the cod,” they rap together.

Talk about “cod targets”.

The 2024 NFL season officially begins with a special Thursday night edition of Football on Sunday eveningairs on NBC and Peacock on September 5, when the Chiefs and Ravens face off in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game.
