The LPGA had to apologize to fans who were unable to access the Solheim Cup course due to the long delays.

The 19th edition of the Women’s Gold Event began on Friday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, with British golfer Charley Hull competing in foursomes and fourball against world number one Nelly Korda.

For fans, however, there were other concerns about access to the course.

Attendees posted photos of empty seats in the stands early in the day due to difficulty and long delays in catching shuttle buses between the parking lots and the event.

X users complained of buses being delayed by up to two hours, and there were also calls for refunds for those who had purchased their tickets but had to miss the start of the event due to the shuttle delay, despite arriving before sunrise.

The LPGA said on X: “We recognize the difficulties associated with commuting from the parking lot to the golf course and deeply apologize to all fans. We have made significant changes to our transportation system to mitigate these issues in the future and are working on ways to express our regrets to those affected.”

Beth Ann Nichols, who works for Golfweek, wrote on X: “I was outside talking to people. Those who didn’t arrive until 8:15 this morning were told they would have to wait two to three hours just to get on the bus. No idea how many turned around.”
