Louisiana Lottery announces Wednesday winnings

If you live in New Orleans, Lafayette, Alexandria, Shreveport or Monroe Louisiana and play the Louisiana Lottery games, then you are a lucky person. You don’t have to drive too far when you meet a big winner, like one lucky lottery player in Louisiana did last night.

To be clear, most of us who collect a little money for a bet on a Louisiana lottery game can redeem those winnings at the retailer that sold us the ticket. Generally, any prize over $600 must be claimed at one of the Louisiana Lottery regional offices in one of the cities listed above.

Speaking of winnings, we’re often asked if you can remain anonymous if you win “big” in Louisiana. The answer is yes, but most likely no. No, you don’t have to accept the winnings publicly, but since the payout of lottery winnings falls under Louisiana’s open records law, it would be easy for someone to check your name against the tax records. You can view the lottery’s official position on this issue here.

There were some big cash prizes up for grabs in Louisiana on Wednesday night. There was a lot of cash in the Powerball game. The Louisiana Lottery also held lottery drawings that recently produced an $875,000 winner in Albany, Louisiana. And last night there was also a raffle for Easy 5.

Did a Louisiana ticket win the Powerball jackpot?

The short answer is “no”. It wasn’t actually a great night for Louisiana Powerball players, but there were some notable wins. This is how the drawing developed.

The top prize in Wednesday night’s drawing was a life-changing $273.5 million. And if you played and didn’t win, you can at least take comfort in knowing that no one else did either. There were two tickets, one sold in Illinois and the other in Indiana, that raised $1 million by matching all five “white balls.”

In Louisiana, the largest Powerball prize on Wednesday was $300. Eight tickets were sold in the state with numbers corresponding to a scenario that earned that amount. Twelve additional tickets were sold for Wednesday night’s game, fetching $100.

The Powerball jackpot will now rise to $295 million on Saturday night, which is the estimated annuity jackpot. The numbers from Wednesday’s game were:

01 02 21 37 43 Powerball 21 and Power Play x3

Before you run to the store to collect your winnings, please check your tickets on the Louisiana Lottery official website or the official Powerball website. You can also receive confirmation of your prize amount and how to collect the money.

Louisiana Lottery confirmed the $110,000 winner Wednesday evening

The biggest lottery win last night in Louisiana was with my favorite game, Easy 5. I like Easy 5 because the game seems to produce a jackpot winner two to three times a month. In fact, the last Easy 5 win came on September 7th, when a ticket sold in Marrero fetched a prize of $60,000.

Last night’s Easy 5 win was $110,000. According to my sources at the Louisiana Lottery, this ticket was purchased at Northshore Chevron in Slidell. If you bought a ticket for Easy 5 there, be sure to check the numbers and sign on the back of the ticket.

Mega Millions jackpot climbs for Friday night drawing

Mega Millions, Louisiana’s other multi-state lottery game, is drawn Friday evening. The jackpot in this game is estimated at $108 million for the annuity prize. If you choose the lump sum or cash payout, your profit will be $53.8 million before the tax office demands its share.
