MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local woman is accused of stealing over $200.00 worth of merchandise from the Clarion Walmart on three separate occasions.
According to court documents, Clarion State Police charged the 49-year-old Robin L. Maboldof Leeper, on July 25 in the office of District Judge Jeffrey Miller.
According to a criminal complaint, PSP Clarion was called to a shoplifting incident at a Walmart in Monroe Township, Clarion County on April 23 at approximately 5:57 p.m.
The police met with Walmart Loss Prevention about three shoplifting incidents involving the same perpetrator, Robin MaboldThe Loss Prevention Department stated that on three separate occasions they caught a woman (Mabold) swiping items across the self-checkout lane but not actually scanning them, the complaint states.
Loss prevention also explained that Mabold purchased three of the same items and only scanned one of them while the others remained in the cart. Loss prevention said they recognized Mabold’s identity by seeing her pay by card at the self-checkout. The fact that it was Mabold was also proven by her being observed arriving and departing in a gray Honda Insight registered to her, the complaint states.
During an interview by police, Mabold was asked if she had been to Walmart on March 1, April 2 and April 22 of this year, to which she replied, “Yes, I was, I keep all my receipts.” Mabold was then shown the security camera images and she confirmed that she and her vehicle were in the photos. She was then asked why she had not paid for everything, to which she replied that she had. She was then explained the method she used to steal the items and she again stated that she keeps her receipts, the complaint states.
Mabold was then advised that everything she had taken was on camera. However, she insisted that she had not stolen anything. She was again told that everything was on camera and admitted that “it was possible that she had forgotten a few things,” according to the complaint.
The complaint states that the vehicle Mabold used to arrive and depart Walmart, which was videotaped by Loss Prevention, was parked in Mabold’s driveway when PSP arrived at her home.
On July 16, Mabold went to PSP Clarion to be fingerprinted. Without even mentioning the incident, Mabold stated, “You know what, officer, I looked at my receipts and maybe I didn’t scan some of the items you showed me pictures of,” the complaint states.
The stolen items include various food items and an article of clothing. On March 1, Mabold is accused of stealing seven items valued at $71.35. On April 2, she is accused of stealing 18 items valued at $103.03. And on April 22, she is accused of stealing nine items valued at a total of $32.52. The total value of the thefts is $206.90, according to the indictment.
Because of her criminal record, Mabold has already been convicted twice of shoplifting, making this her third offense, the lawsuit states.
Mabold will be arraigned before Judge Miller on August 29 at 10:00 a.m. on the following charges:
- Shoplifting – MDSE (Felony 3, 3rd or subsequent offense)
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 24 at 9:15 a.m. with Judge Miller presiding.
