Liverpool agree fee for attacking midfielder as club expected to make significant profit

Liverpool have agreed to sell attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Brentford in a deal worth up to £27.5 million ($35 million) including add-ons.

The transfer represents a significant gain for Liverpool, who originally signed Carvalho from Fulham for £7 million ($8.9 million) in 2022.

The transfer includes a sell-on clause of 17.5%, meaning Liverpool will receive a percentage of all future profits if Brentford decide to sell Carvalho.

Clear win for Liverpool

Fulham, Carvalho’s former club, will also benefit from the deal, receiving 20% of Liverpool’s profits above £5 million ($6.3 million). That equates to about £3.1 million for Fulham if Liverpool receives the full £27.5 million ($35 million).

Carvalho, who has struggled to find a regular place in Liverpool’s lineup, will make a fresh start at Brentford, where he is expected to play a central role.

The move is seen as a positive outcome for all parties involved as it gives Carvalho more playing time and enables Liverpool to make a decent profit.

The deal was confirmed by reputable sources, including journalist Paul Joyce, who supported the reports originally reported by Portuguese news channel A Bola.

Carvalho’s departure marks the end of his brief stint at Anfield, but opens up new opportunities for him as he moves to Brentford, a club known for its strong development of young talent.
