List of referees for each wildcard series

The 12 teams in the 2024 MLB postseason are all set after the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets each secured a spot by splitting the doubleheader they needed on Monday to decide the National League playoff race secured.

Now come the games baseball fans have been waiting for.

All four best-of-three wild card series begin Tuesday, starting with Game 1 between the Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers in the American League, and every decision and decision will be highlighted. This also applies to the referees.

Although the replay feature was introduced into the game several years ago, it is still very important to players, managers and fans who serves as a crew chief for a postseason series and especially who calls balls and strikes for a particular game. Before the Wild Card Round began on Tuesday, MLB announced the umpires who will work each series and where they will be positioned.

Here’s a rundown of which referees can expect work games when the 2024 MLB postseason begins on Tuesday, what the schedule looks like and which channel to watch all the action on:

2024 MLB Wild Card Series umpire schedule

Note: Umpires rotate from right field to left and then clockwise around the bases, starting at third base during an MLB postseason series, so that the umpire is behind the plate at second base for the opener for a possible Game 3 in the wildcard round.
