LINKIN Park confuses fans as they share a countdown to a mysterious announcement on social media.
The band posted a short clip on X announcing their upcoming big news.
A black screen appeared and the numbers 100:00:00 in white counting down.
The caption of the post did not contain any further explanation, but did include a link to his website.
Fans immediately asked in the comments what the highly anticipated announcement might entail.
“New album on the way??” speculated one fan.
“What does this mean?” asked another.
“What are you cooking????” asked a third.
Others suspected that the band would get a new member.
“Tour dates for 2025 and announcement of who will sing Chester’s parts?” someone suggested.
“Is Linkin Park coming back with a new singer?” suggested another.
Linkin Park took an indefinite hiatus in July 2017 following the death of their lead singer Chester Bennington.
They haven’t toured since then, but hinted earlier this year that the band might return to the stage with the announcement of a new song called Friendly Fire.
It has not been announced when the title will be released.
The group became famous in 2000 with their debut album “Hybrid Theory”.
They produced major hits such as “In the End,” “What I’ve Done,” and “Numb.”
Notable albums by Linkin Park
Linkin Park was one of the most popular rock bands of the 90s and 2000s. When their lead singer Chester Bennington died in 2017, they took a break from recording new music and performing. Here is a list of their most notable albums:
- Hybrid Theory (2000)
- Revival (2002)
- Meteora (2003)
- Live in Texas (2003)
- Minutes to Midnight (2007)
In April, a source close to the band told Billboard that Linkin Park was considering a reunion.
There have reportedly been talks about a possible reunion tour next year and hiring a female singer to replace Chester.
There were rumors that Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee was in the running for the performance, but the singer denied the talk.
During an appearance on IHeartRadio Canada in April, Amy revealed that the band had not contacted her about possibly joining the group, but that she was not against the idea.
“It’s great,” said the Bring Me To Life singer. “You should ask me about it. I don’t have much free time, but maybe I’ll do it part-time.”
