Less fire danger, more clouds this afternoon

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Thursday will be the cloudiest day of the week so far.

The chance of an isolated shower is very low today, however the best chance of rain remains Saturday evening.

We’ll start with some clearing early before more clouds move in throughout the day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Some communities further south could also reach 70°.

Temperatures will be cooler than Wednesday.

A few local showers cannot be ruled out during the day, but actual precipitation will be less than 0.10 inches. However, you are more likely to stay dry than it rains. Additionally, the dry air closer to the surface means that the rain we do get dries out pretty quickly.

Winds will be calmer on Thursday than they have been over the past few days.

The fire danger for today will be lower over the next few days. Winds will be less gusty on Thursday and Friday than in recent days. Even if the wind picks up again on Saturday, we will have wetter air to work with. Overall, conditions for the use of farm equipment and campfires will be better. First, check with the Wisconsin DNR for any fire restrictions.
